
If you are using analog multimeter and experienced not accurate result especially using the X1 ohm scale, i suggest that you open the cover up and see if there is any resistor burnt. When this X1 ohm resistor burnt, it would cause no matter what value of resistors you are checking , the pointer always go to the far right (zero ohms). How it burnt? You may have accidentally touch your probe on high voltage at X1 OHMS range. It depends on the designs of your analog meter but usually it is 18 ohms. Where is the resistor located? It is located behind the X 1 ohm range selector.
So from now on if your analog meter don’t give you an accurate result when using the X 1 ohm range, i guess this is the right time to check the resistor value. It is a 5 colors bands resistor and if you could not find one you can always replace with a 4 color band resistor
